The Women's Museum (Fair Park)
(Dallas, TX)

The Black Academy of Arts and Letters (TBAAL) will temporarily relocate to The Women’s Museum (TWM) at Fair Park during the renovation and expansion of its existing facility at KBHCCD.

The TWM facility, a 63,848-square-foot building located within the 277-acre Fair Park Campus, was originally renovated in 1999 but has since fallen out of modern upkeep. As a historically registered landmark, this project necessitates coordination and approval from several historic preservation agencies. To support the operational needs of TBAAL and restore the historic facility, the building requires interior modifications and moderate repair work.

Feasibility Study and Facility Assessment

Dikita first conducted a feasibility study to evaluate the suitability of the space for relocation, including developing a space program, spatial test fits, and preliminary budget and schedule. This formed the basis for the tenant improvements and interior changes needed. Following the feasibility study, Dikita’s consultant (PBK) carried out a facility condition assessment to evaluate the building’s overall health, establishing the scope for necessary repairs.
