Parking Lot Study (DART Data Collection)

As part of Dikita’s longstanding (30+ year) relationship with Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), this project is an example of one of the many ad-hoc tasks included in the latest contract renewal.
The goal of this parking lot study was to obtain weekday usage at each of DART’s facilities with public parking. Once a baseline number was established, counts were conducted on a quarterly basis. The study began January 6, 2019 and was conducted throughout the year. To accomplish the project goal, Dikita conducted the surveys using mobile tablets. Our programmer developed a software application to facilitate these counts and designed an interface for the data to be downloaded and reviewed using Dikita’s in-house data management program called TRIP. Depending on the number of vehicles parked at the location, the program counted occupied spaces or empty spaces.
