SMART NTD Compliant Passenger Counting Services and APC Validation for NTD Certification

The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit District (SMART) sought a qualified consultant to conduct passenger counts onboard their trains to meet the National Transit Database (NTD) sampling and reporting guidelines. Dikita developed the survey instrument, generated the sampling plan, and hired/trained all survey staff to conduct passenger counts for both standard NTD and APC certification purposes. Dikita also analyzed the collected data and prepared the final dataset for NTD reporting.
Additionally, SMART installed APC machines on their fleet of rail cars in July 2022 and Dikita performed the manual observations required to validate those machines in August 2022.
